DEUTSCHE VERSION
DJ DBA (designed by accident), tour DJ and tabla student of Talvin Singh, turns clubbing into a journey: Indian Classical, Brazilian Beats, UK Breaks and D'n'B - which he all turns into a vibrant cross cultural dancefloor experience, mixing, blending & nob-twiddling away - always keeping a smile on everybodys face !

DJ Dba
German drummer & Percussionist Claas Sandbothe discovered dj-ing, while spending a year in London (1996/97) with the avant-garde rock band Podsdarapomuk. There he met his (tabla) teacher Talvin Singh, who lived down the road from the band’s house!

Inspired by Singh's Music and his club night Anokha (then at the Bluenote / Hoxton Square), Claas started collecting vinyl as well as producing his first LoFi-tracks. As a drummer he was particularly fascinated with the UK drum'n'bass-sound. Producers like Photek and Squarepusher were a big influence back then.

November '97 he moved to Berlin, but he frequently went back to London to learn. In October '98 he played his first DJ set at Anokha (at that time running at The End in Soho). Life and studio work with different Anokha artists such as Talvin Singh ("Soft Works", on the compilation "East-Westercism"), Cleveland Watkiss, DJ Equal-I and Lelonek ("Floatip", out on the compilation "Reflections" on 1K / Aquarius Records) were soon to follow. About a year later he produced his first remix, now under the guise DBA (Designed By Accident), for the Mastermusicians Of Jajouka (on Decca Records).

Since then he continued to stir the Global Breakbeat scene, especially with his DJ sets, mixing anything from Shakti with John Mclaughlin, traditional Batucada and Dub to contemporary club sounds such as 2-step und drum'n'bass, to get a very danceable result!

As a drummer he is currently working with Leloneks Reflections Band and bass player Armin Metz (from Cross Culture Music) as duo Oxygen, to present global clubsounds life on stage. He further played with multicultural ragga, hiphop, d'n'b outfit Culture Clash, The Weather Girls, Boobinga, Didges Brew.

Since 2003 he is Lelonek´s partner at 1K Records and their new compilation “Reflections Vol.2“ is ready for release...
